I'm a little different though - I looked after my dad after his amputation. It was just his toes, but I've seen how it effects his life, and he is single (was when it happened too). He relys on me a lot, and to be honest, I love to feel needed.

Okay, so my boyfriend might not be able to take me to a fancy place and be on my arm, but really a boyfriend for me is about the emotional support I gain. Sex can be filled with a toy if need be, I need the love and affection from a partner.

So yeah. If my boyfriend had to have an amputation, I would stay with him for as long as I could.

This is a serious question so I am going to be completely honest with you. Maybe if it was my boyfriend. Absolutely if it was my husband. Why "absolutely" for husband? because you take a vow to be with them for better or for worse, for rich or for poor, etc. Getting back to if he was just my boyfriend? Ehhh I am not trying to sound mean or heartless, I am just the type that doesn't want to "babysit" all the time. I wouldn't be happy, I would feel like I would always have to be extra nice around him because I feel sorry for the condition he is in. I wouldn't always want to be the one who has to drag him here and there in a wheel chair or always slow down for him, anything like that unless I was married. The only way I would probably stay with him is if he got those running legs, I don't know what you call them.

I would still love him and I would stay with him. When you love someone, you support them no matter what and I would support him through that difficult time. Imagine loosing your legs and then loosing your partner, I couldn't do that to someone I loved. The person who got MHO certainly does NOT speak for me or the majority. She's evidently never experienced true love or been with someone she felt was the one.

That is very well said. I have made some bad experiences since I had to have my legs amputated, but my girlfriend helped me a lot through the worst phase.

In my opinion, I would stay with him if he was amputated because I would love him for who he is and not how he looks or what happened to him physically. If anyone would leave their boyfriend for that, then either 1) they never loved their boyfriend in the first place, or 2) they don't know how to love others based on their personality (this is just my opinion i'm not trying to be rude).
