Why would my ex boyfriend 'poke me on Facebook? How should I respond?

I saw my ex boyfriend ' poked me' on Facebook today. We broke up seven months ago and haven't spoken since the first week of January. In Jan, we were in touch by email and it didn't go well.

He has not provided me closure and refuses to talk about the past or work through/admit his problem areas. I contacted him in Jan only to deal with unresolved issues, but he refused to cooperate! Then, he had the nerve to ask for my friendship! Hell no! As if I could be friends with a person that won't confront issues and disappointed me in many ways. I don't think so...

I was so mad when he didn't cooperate, I told him I didn't want to be friends at all. I didn't talk to him since and three months passed. NOW, the jackass that had me blocked on FB previously, decides to POKE ME out of the blue! WTF!
I felt sick the whole day amd more pissed because he didn't bother to write a normal message and instead just poked me!

Two days ago, I had gone on Facebook and I saw that my ex-has poked me. However, I didn't really know how to act upon coming across this and what to do. So, I had left it be for now. It would have been nice if he had messaged me and talked to me, though.

Wow. I don't know how you let this go for three months! I feel like I need to do something about it within this week or I will lose it!

I hate the fact that he couldn't just send a damn message or an email! I am even more angry now. I feel like just sending an email to say, "what do you want? Do you have something to say?"

Yes! I was so angry about it myself. We ended on... okay terms. He started dating someone a week after we broke up and on Facebook I saw that he was "In a Relationship". I was so hurt by that. He also deleted me as a friend sometime before he broke up with me because after he did I went into FB and was going to delete him, but I couldn't find him in my friends list.

I can totally understand your anger. I'm pissed at him for not even sending s "Hey, what
up?" or anything message wise, but instead he goes the cowardly route and pokes me on FB when he knows that HE unfriended me.

Honestly, I have no idea what to do, haha. Maybe poke him back? I'm not even sure what I'm going to do. Since he decided to go the cowardly route and send you a poke, then send him back one and see if he gets the courage to actually message you. Or you could shoot him an email asking if he has something to say because if he doesn't then I don't see a reason for him to have contacted you in the first place.

In your case, I would say don't bother! Dating someone after a week is just wrong! That's grounds for being cut off.

My ex is a coward in general as I observed the last few months of our relationship! A coward always take the coward route! That jerk definitely wants and knows I will probably contact him soon. My ex knows that I am confrontational by nature and that I won't let this go.

Near the breakup, he did crazy things to get attention like signing on the same time as me and off again, so I would notice him! Total dumbass move! Lol

I think I need to email in a day or two!

Okay, it worked out! After I messaged him, he said he was thinking about me and wanted to check how I was doing! That was good to hear. We talked in a few emails, but I still feel I need to get out more regarding our relationship and working through stuff. All we talked about over email is work and daily activities, it wasn't that deep!

What do you think? Should I ask him to speak with me over the phone now? I feel sad just leaving the emails like that after being so general. I definitely feel that there's more that needs to be said!
