We talk online but not in real life at school? help?

This guy started talking to me a month or so ago on facebook, he’s in a younger grade and we go to the same school but we've never spoken in real life. We talk every day and I really enjoy talking to him. Recently I found out he just got a girlfriend and it really hurt me that he didn't even tell me, I saw them together in school. I said to him "I didn't know you had a girlfriend?" and he said "surprise". He does say that I’m cute, funny and cool and we talk about almost everything. I see him at school and pass him sometimes but we've never talked. We say we’re just friends but I'm not sure. He says stuff like "I care for you", "you make me happy" and "I don t want other people, I want you and I’d miss you if we stopped talking". I’m very confused, is he using me? I'm also scared to talk to him in real life, he said that he’d say hi first but he hasn’t. I don't know what to do, I told him that it makes me uncomfortable talking to a guy that has a girlfriend and he just said "why? We’re friends". I tried to tell him that maybe we shouldn’t be friends anymore but he just kept disagreeing. I think he’s a genuine person; we have the same music tastes and same beliefs. I get along with him really well. I just don’t know what to do.

It seems like you've developed feelings for this guy, and I can't blame you. Sometimes guys aren't aware of how they are making a girl feel, but of course there are times they infact are. Which they tend to lead the girl on.

Him not mentioning his girlfriend to you is odd. Perhaps he is starting to like you (or knows you like him) and he didn't want to bring it up because it'd hurt you or make you uncomfortable. There's a reason he didn't want you to know. He could be saving you for a backup plan if things with his girlfriend don't work out, who knows. :/
I find it odd he doesn't talk with you much outside of the internet. That doesn't sound like a friendship at all if he can't find the time to speak with you face to face.

As for the talking online thing, if it's hurting you to know he's got someone special in his life, you are able to take a break from chatting with him for a while until you know where you stand with him. By what I've read here it seems he does enjoy the convos with you, but only online. If he cannot take time to spend chatting with you in person then I wouldn't look too much into it.

I would recommend taking a break from the everyday convos and distance yourself a little. Hopefully he will realize he shouldn't lead you on (I believe that's what he's done here.) You could do a little test, and appear offline to him for a few days. Don't reply to his messages and see what happens. If he is actually interested in a friendship with you, and cares about you like he has said he does, he'll worry why you two aren't talking like usual. Then he may approach you in person to ask what's going on.
Hopefully within that bit of time you'll be able to figure him out more.

Thank you! I think I will take your advice. I won't talk to him for a couple of days and see what happens. I just hope i don't give in and reply to him when he messages. boys are confusing things aren't they? D:
