My boyfriend has been wetting his pants lately. His doctor has not helped yet. Awkward... But am I wrong to insist he wears adult diapers for now?

So this started two months ago out of nowhere. My boyfriend wets the bed everynight now and he usually has a few small leaks through the day. Other times its not just a leak and he ends up soaking everything around him. He has had a few tests done by different doctors and as far as we can tell this is not a life threatening disease behind this problem, thank goodness! We put a plastic sheet on our bed which only stops the mattress from being wet... not me. He puts folded toilet paper in his underwear, but this doesn't cut if for the bigger accidents. I have tried suggesting depends diapers so many times, I even call them underwear when I suggest it. He says no, he is trying stuff with the doctor so he doesn't need them. I am tired of getting wet in the night. Our apartment is starting to stink cause scrubbing the couches only does so much. He is even limiting our social life now. Am I wrong to insist he wears diapers until we get this solved? Also we are both 24 so I feel bad asking him to wear them. Its not like he's really old. Also please dont be mean, he is a sweet guy, part of why I've stuck around this long.

I know its kinda weird to ask this online, but I really can't talk to my friends about his. That wouldn't be fair to him. It is always nice to get outside feedback though when you second guess yourself.

I feel really bad for him... But my wife has the exact same problem. Trouble controlling the muscles that keep ones bladder closed. Don't insist upon Adult Diapers. Definitely suggest them. Don't give him an ultimatum. If you say "Wear the Adult Diapers or I'm leaving" it'll probably crush him. It needs to be his decision. At the very least tell him you're going to spend some time with family be honest and say "I'm going to spend some time with family because I don't want this issue to come between us and it's very frustrating for me" or lie and say "I'm going to spend time with my family because I haven't seen them in a while" either way he will take offence. If you don't want the problem to cause relationship issues I suggest removing yourself from the area. Do it calmly and make sure you hammer the point home that he has done nothing wrong and you just don't want to get angry with him because of something he can't control. You aren't being a bitch. You're concerned for hygiene and personal health. There isn't anything wrong with that. If you think it will get between you two and you don't want it to go stay with a FEMALE friend for a while so he can figure it out. Just make sure if you do that you're at every doctors appointment and are always talking to him when you can. Just to make sure he knows the relationship is still secure. No you are not wrong to insist. It actually sounds abusive to me that you are expected to sleep in urine. You might live the guy, but that's just not necessary.

he's actually not allowed to drink or eat food with high water content like fruit after 7 and it still happens all the time! Its so frustrating! This is actually happening in the day too though and I feel bad telling him he needs to wear a diaper in the day :/

The doctor should have done some x ray on his lower tummy and prescribed a medicine already. I would suggest talking to the doctor again.

Sounds like a UTI to me. Anyway, that sounds like it would be humiliating to ask even if it is with the best intentions. He's probably embarrassed and that could just result in a fight. Look for something you can put over your mattress like a pad or something until the problem's resolved. At least it's something he wouldn't have to wear around all day.

We only have one bed and I hate sleeping on the couch. I have tried a few times so I wouldn't have to deal with his bedwetting, but I can never fall asleep on the couch, as much as I wish I could. Id get another bed of we had the money... Also this is happening in the day too, which is just as much if not more of a problem.

I have asked him to and he said that was not fair to ask because he pays almost all of our rent. I am thinking of giving him the option of depends or leaving him at this point to be honest. I don't know if that makes me a bitch though.
