What does it mean when a guy asks a girl for a back massage?

I don't know this guy extremely well, but we have talked here and there. But he asked me if I could ever give him a back massage. I am wondering if this could mean something else. I don't know what to say in response to the guy, as I don't want to come off misleading him. If he means something else, I need to make it clear that I am not that kind of girl and I most certainly won't conform to use useless way of our modern dating culture.

I think he's trying to initiate touching in your newly started reltionship. To see if you'll be comfortable touching him, also he'll be able to tell how you feel by the way you're massage him to. It's also a good ice breaker for more things to come if you feel comfortable with youself doing things like that with him. He'll probably do the same for you if want him to. If you don't feel comfortable or think its too soon for that, let him know, and I'm sure he'll understand.
