My boyfriend broke up with me 3 weeks ago...and I cut off all contact with him and I struggle daily if I am doing the right thing...but this quote sometimes eases the pain...just wondered if their were any real life stories where the person came back?

within 24 hours of the break up he started calling and texting non-stop, then after 4 days nothing..then a week later he text me his new number and told me he still cares about me?

Yes this quote has helped me to ease pain as well. I remember dating this one guy. He was my true love and I still believe that he is. We had an amazing relationship, we never argued or fought. We dated for 2 years before an incident occurred where we broke up. It was hard for me to let go as we both knew that we were destined for one another. A year later, I was still hung over him. I dated other guys but it would never feel the same and would always end because of my love for him. That year, I found out he pursued a relationship with someone else. I was choked, it was such a slam to the curb. The pain crept up on me but slowly and slowly it was washing away because I was setting something (him) free. I was ready to let go of what I thought would have come back. I told myself that I'm only willing to let him go because I want him to be happy because I love him.

To this day, I still think of him, I still love him. I will always love him. Just recently, his girlfriend (ex girlfriend now I believe) messaged me over facebook and told me that Stephen never got over me through all these years that they have been dating. He's kept everyone of our pictures, talks about me all the time and a lot more that I don't want to disclose. Therefore this quote somewhat does work, if you believe it, it'll happen.

Well if you were something special to him and you were good to him they come back, it always happens with me a x will try to build a friendship after years...but at that point I have no feelings towards them once so ever so it doesn't phase me...i know how you feel it hurts and it sucks. It also depends on the situation to if the guy finds another girl that he feels is better for him he may never come back or he may come back years later after he done with the girl he thought was better for him, or being away from you could make him see how much he misses you and he could come back...Why did he break up with you?

I am 5 years older than him and 22 and 27 and he struggled a lot throughout the relationship of wanting to be "free" and really wanting to be with me...I kicked him out after 2 years for talking to another girl behind my back (was not the first time) and after 6 weeks he came back and said he was ready to do whatever it takes...after being together for a month during a heated argument he said he was done...he wasn't happy anymore(I think it was just his out) he said all I want to do is argue.

Well in that case he may not be back because he is in a different place in his life where he wants to free and be with other girls, and do what a guy in thier early 20's would do...you can't make somebody want to commit and settle down they have to want to do that themselves. Its a good thing what you did you need to get over him an heal..and find someone more on your level...now there is a small window he may come back maybe after he has enough of being free...maybe for the wrong reasons

Yes and he was exactly the same as before and we broke up for EXACTLY the same reasons all over again.

I would say if you love YOURSELF, then set it free. He broke up with you. He will or will not contact you or try to get back together with you whether you worry about it or not. I would say do your best to continue moving forward in your own life. The stronger you get, the less you will care if he comes back. And if he ever does-well you're stronger and don't care so it will feel different than it does now. Hang in there!

I think you are doing the right thing. That's what will drive a guy the craziest if you don't answer when he tries contacting you. So even when he's texting you his new number and telling you he still cares about you I don't think you should respond. It will drive him crazy. Trust me. Also yeah I've heard of stories of letting people go and if they come back their yours forever. They even say divorce pyscologists give this advice to people. They tell them if your spouse wants to leave help them pack. I don't know if this messes with the one wanting to leave psycologically or what. Also with my ex when I used to not give a crap and told her to leave I don't care this and that she always came back. Then when I found out she was talking to someone I knew when we were on a break I completely freaked and begged for her back. I constantly texted, called, etc. But now she won't come back and is with this other guy. So I don't know I hope everything works out for you. Good luck and be strong. If he really wants to find you he will.

Its not going to be a easy walk in the park even if you get back together, this guys is scared of commiting to an older woman that has a child and he is scared of missing out on his youth by taking up such a big responsibility. YOu have to show him somehow that you are going to give him peace of mind and make him feel like he is never going to get as lucky with someone ells like with you . this you can't tell someone , you have to show it through your actions. Then when he sees that he is missing out he wil come , but only when he is ready. you should let him know that you will wait for him to figure things out for himself but that you can't wait forever.

My husband didn't think so. I kept on telling him to give us a break and to just let me go. In his mind "giving us a break" meant breaking up and losing me forever so he was going to hold tight to me no matter what. so to some extent it did work. I don't know. It may be different for everyone. but if you really loved someone... like Jesus said in the bible... if you truly loved someone you wouldn't want to lose them... you'd jump through hoops/climb mountains/cross over oceans to be with that someone. that's what my hubby did for me. He was in the military in Italy and he met me in NC because he was in a class for a few months. He took leave and flew back to marry me (fly from Italy back to the states). we are now in italy together. =) so happy ending

Bit late, but yes. Let me tell you a story. About 1 year ago I was friends with a guy at work. Well, we got into a dumb argument that ended up hurting both of us badly. Didn't talk for a month. We slowly resolved things and talked things out. Once we did that, we waited for things to become less awkward. They did. Well, fast forward and now we're able to talk without it being awkward and the weird thing is he understands me and vice versa more than we did before. Turns out we both are going through similar things, but we both agreed to be there for one another should the other ever need a friend, and that's the best feeling ever. We both agreed to help one another make it through things.

yes I do belief in this saying. over a year ago this guy I had a huge crush on, and he liked me to so I been told by him and many of his friends, kissed...but then he stoped talking to me and all that staff he even got a girlfriend, and it didn't make any sense to me cu she was much uglier than me (and I'm nit saying thhat I'm really pretty) but then like 4 month after that he asked me out and we had many good dates and many memorable moment, we are not so great right now but I still belief in that phrase infackt that was the phase I told all of my girlfriends who knew the whole story about "us" after he asked me out.. :)

its happened to me and I'm now back with that person and have been with him for 3yrs I think someone needs time to realize how much they care and stuff just like they saying you don't know what you got till its gone so yess I believe its true but I wouldn't play games with it obviously he wants you around so it sounds like he's been calling and texting right?

I strongly believe in this quote. I won't go into some long story, but I know that it's true. If someone truly loves you and has feelings for you then they will come back to you. That's just how it works. So, I think that your doing the right thing.

I do believe it. few weeks back, me and my boyfriend were arguing a lot then he wanted a break.

i found it hard, and was nagging him initially but then granted him the space.

it was only 2weeks later, he picked up the phone and rang me...said I was too intense and that I needed to change. but yeh, he came back.

I believe it. Sometimes they have to be away from you to realize it but you have to have patient. It could be a week, month or even a year. Who knows if he does come back you might not even want him or meet someone else in the meantime.
