Has taking an ex back worked for you?

I guess it depends on what you mean by has it worked out... in the long run no, never. But in the short term it worked. Once I go all in on a relationship and it fizzles out, I usually move and don't look back. But whenever I did take an ex back, I basically only did it to achieve some short-term need or goal, and if it worked out from there then great... but it never did for me. I mean there was a reason why they became an ex in the first place, and those reasons were still there even though I gave them a second chance.

Yes, but... 1.) I dumped her originally, 2.) she begged to come back, 3.) We both had changed a lot between being together the first time and the second. Also no cheating was involved. Even without that combination of stuff I would've never done it. And even so, it's not a good bet to make. It's risky.

Yes. We met here on gag. Dated 2-3 years. Broke up for 1 yr. Got back. Dating again now married.  we never we would date in the first place.  it worked out and we are very happy now.

No. The same conflicts arise; the same frustrations. If you breakup one time, it's for the best.

Just to set an example. I met my LD ex, in a chatroom. As time passed, she didn't knew what she wanted in her life. Years later, after our relation ended, and after her first RL relation ended—she met the guy online, at first—, we chatted a bit months ago. According to her, she's trying to find herself. Well, if she was trying to find her self, from the first year we met—early 2010's—till the present year, pardon me, but I got saved from a major problem.

In a short sentence: breakup, don't look behind and don't expect that person will ever change. Just move on, there's lot of people out there. Date someone else if you have to, but make sure you know who you are and what you want.

My wife and I met in high school. Were together for about 7 years, had a kid. Broke up. Started dating again about 8 years later and have been together now for 20 years.
