Why are women generally attracted to men with dark features (skin, hair, eyes) while men are generally attracted to women with light features?

I'm not saying this is a general rule but most of the time that is the truth.
For example nowadays in America and Europe the standard of beauty for men are black men and tanned skinned latin guys while the standard of beauty for women are generally fair skinned blonde/brown-haired women with colored eyes.
Why do you think that's the case? Why are women with dark features and men with light features not considered as attractive as their counterparts?
PS: Im not saying women with dark features and men with light features aren't attractive, because many of them really are but they are not considered as attractive as others.

In fairy tales and religious books "fair" is always considered the most beautiful for women. As far as your claim about men, I'm not sure. I think men and women both prefer prettier eye colors instead of your basic brown. I prefer dark hair on men, but not dark skin.

For me I've been attracted to the look because I don't know how but it seems masculine, like I know it isn't but the features usually come off as more prominent and dominant for some reason.

Maybe it’s viewed as more masculine and the other as more feminine. Not saying it’s true though.
