Why do girls like cocky guys?

It seems like all girls love the guys who brag a lot and think their better than everyone.

Just like some people confuse confidence with cockiness, some women (even yours truly) have confused confidence with cockiness. Got older and wiser and see that the most cocky guys are those who are deeply insecure.

I'm trying to get out of that pattern.

It's one thing to have confidence and know your faults and mistakes, it's another thing to act like an ass and never admit you're in thr wrong.

I think there is a difference between cocky and confident. if a guy is too cocky then most women will not be emotionally attracted to them but that doesn't mean that they won't stay with a man(there physical attributes). a lot of women stay with "cocky" men because there physically attracted to them but after a while it gets old and the girl will move on.

No, what you described is arrogance (which girls hate), which is not to be confused with confidence (which girls love). Cocky guys are such a turn off.

Generally, the cocky guys are the better looking guys. They are the dominant male or alpha male. When everyone tells them they are good looking and great, the logical conclusion is that they are arrogant. Thus, you can't blame them. Girls are attracted to them because they are "hot."

i'm proof that girls don't like guys with a functioning brain. they mostly like guys with the chiseled body, fat bank account or some other annoying trait that I don't possess.

I don't agree with this. I'm engaged to a skinny guy, with glasses (I love his glasses btw) but most people will think he looks like a nerd. Well, so be it.

He also doesn't have a fat bank account, I do.

And I would choose him over every single guy with a 'chiseled body'.
