Why does my boyfriend put his hand on my thigh while driving?

When he's driving, he would hold my hand and his other hand would be on the steering wheel

Why does he do this?

It's common. I guess a lot of boys do this.. it's more comfortable for him to put his hand on your tight than to hold your hand, and in this way he has a contact with you.
My boyfriend also does this, and sometimes takes my hand and kisses it
