I don't think it's true in ALL cases but personally, I have to agree with DonJuan... I'm about to break up with my boyfriend of 4 months and although it's true that I don't have time for a relationship right now (just moved, starting a new job etc etc) the main reason is that I'm just not as in to him as he is to me and I thought that might be a nicer way of putting it, a way of breaking the fall so-as-to-speak :S am I wrong? is it that transparent?

When I say this it's usually just because It seems like he and I have been spending a tonnnn of time together and I need time to do weird single girl things. Just like weird things you do when you're alone that you wouldn't ever do in front of your guy. There was a whole episode of sex and the city dedicated to this whole subject lol.

it means just that, time to do what she wants to do, what makes her happy, shopping, nails, hair, books, sports. it doesn't mean she wants you out of the picture. she needs time to get her life back together which could mean dedicating more time to work, school, family, friends, the gym.

This is not particularly true I told the guy I like that I needed space because he hurt my feelings and I needed time to work on myself and my own self esteem issues.

No...it's true. You're just fooling yourself if you think otherwise. When you get older, you'll understand what I'm talking about. Interest level trumps everything...even BS excuses like, "I need to work on myself and my self esteem issues."
