Girlfriend With a Capital "G"?

I asked my boyfriend to define what our relationship was.

He noted I was a girlfriend with a capital "G"

What does that mean? Is there a difference between a girlfriend defined with an uppercase G or a lowercase?

Any ideas?

Thanks for the advice! It definitely meant we were "serious" -- and he meant it in the same way (as a joke) as the British monarchy is referring to the new Princess in waiting -- she was given official status as Girlfriend with a capital "G" :)

It meant he was "very serious" :) And I have been his "G" for years ... we have been close friends for well over a decade. I was a bit worried about that thought actually.

Anyways... it meant something deliberate... and that we were entering "serious g/f" territory... I think he's planning a proposal actually. Since he has been talking the "Big M" lately. Noting that he's planning to make me his wife. How's that for direct? :)
