Boyfriend repeatedly tried to force me to eat something and got mad when I said no?

My boyfriend of 6 years and I just went grocery shopping. This time I paid for everything including some expensive cheeses and foods he wanted.

When we got home he tried some of the cheese and offered me some. I tried a piece but wasn't a big fan.

He then put together the cheese on a cracker with some fig spread and said "here, try this." I said no I'm fine, I'll just have the rest of my dinner. He then said "try this" probably over 10 more times putting it up to my lips and did not want to take no for an answer.

He then got very mad, shouting and accusing me of being xenophobic and that I need to be more open to trying different foods at my age. We literally ate Korean the other night but he said I didn't try everything so it's not good enough.

I'll admit I am picky but I literally tried his stupid cheese. As he is Asian, the cheese is closer to my culture anyway since I am European and the cheese was for him! I got upset and I said he should respect my decision and not try to keep shoving something in my face forcefully.

I am finding him increasingly overwhelming. Is this not controlling? He is seeing a counsellor tomorrow because he has been breaking under pressure at work but I don't know how to deal with this.
