Boyfriend took away my child's food as discipline?

After school I usually pick my child up my boyfriend offered me a ride to pick her up today because he took off of work so we could spend the day together before we picked her up he stopped at McDonald's and got her a happy meal after I picked her up and got in the car he told her he was not going to give her the happy meal and was going to eat it himself because she "has a attitude not smiling and being mean to him" she told him she did not have a attitude and she clealry was sleepy I cooked her a hotdog and about 10 minutes later he told me he was joking and was going to give it to her he just wanted her to stop mugging I have packed out bags and plan on staying with my sister for a few days he says I'm over reacting and will get her a new happy meal am I over reacting?

The only reason he said it was a joke is because he saw you were mad about it. He seems like a red flag and you're not overreacting.

You’re under reacting. Break up with the prick, take your daughter and go. He’s not her daddy and he can’t be making those kinds of calls without you. even if he was the dad theirs better forms of punishment than taking away food. A good one is the simple “stand in the corner” it’s simple yet effective and should be fine for most kids.

I think that’s an awful way to teach a child a lesson whether he thought he was joking or not.


I would be upset with him too but unless there were other red flags I’m not sure it’s something I would leave him over.

i wouldn't say you are overreacting, it's your child so you get to decide how you want or don't want others to play around with her. some time away is going to be good but also tell him how you feel
