Difference between saying I love you & I’m in love with you?

For me its a huge difference!
For me I can say I love you to generally anyone.
“I love my mom” “I love my cats”
But saying I’m IN love with you is a whole other meaning.
That is meant for the person I wanna marry and have kids with. IN love is you would die for that person, and nothing else matters but them.

Im in love with you is on a deeper level. Almost like i want to spend the rest of my life with you etc. I love you is less intimate i guess since English language is limited (unlike japanese). You can say it to your friends. Its easier to say to someone. Its like saying i love fries or i love playing video games

I love you is what you say when you are dating to affirm that you are in love, saying I'm in love with you is a confession.

I'm not exactly sure. All I know is that I wouldn't say "I'm in love with you" to a friend, that's something you only tell someone you're romantic with. "I love you" is less intense, it can be said to friends or family, whereas "I'm in love with you" is exclusively for a boyfriend or a husband.

Yes.
The second sentence after "I'm in love with you" is "I love you". Or I love you so much.
So there is usually a second sentence to say.
I love you is I love you.

Big difference, you can love someone without being in love with them. Being in love with someone is stronger.
