do people really post happy photos on instagram even when they are unhappy? For example people in unhappy relationships looking happy on Instagram? Why?
Is Instagram fake happiness? Do people really post happy photos on Instagram even when they are unhappy?

Most post "highlight reels"
Mostly for influencer street cred... when in fact their world could be crumbling.
Most social media is just that... BS.

Of course.
Pride. Ego.
They don't know how to fill the emptiness inside. It's a shallow, flawed attempt.

Absolutely! And because no one is going to post their worst on social media. That would be like inviting a bunch of strangers into their drama and no one is going to do that.

So basically my friend says she’s in a miserable relationship yet she posts happy photo on Instagram
That’s a tale as old as time dude. I mean imagine if she was posting how unhappy they were, all of the judgement, unwarranted advice, backlash towards him, etc she’d be welcoming by showing the side of their relationship.

I think I must be naive! So is it trying to prove they are happy?
Honestly I think it’s about saving face. I have several girlfriends who do this and it feels like such a conflict because they’ll post the happiest pics and have a nightmare behind closed doors.

It’s definitely fake. People don’t posts pictures of themselves having a meltdown, crying, their dirty house, a pile of dishes, or when they were too lazy to get dressed. They take pictures of their makeup done, when they cleaned their house (or push everything on one side and picture of the other side), etc. People want others to think that their life is perfect and that they are always happy.

Because it's social media
My instagram consists of a bottle of galliano, a couple of shots of some of my silver coins, my profile picture and my amethyst pinkie ring

Because they want others to think they are happy, make others feel they can never be as happy as them, as most relationships have ups and downs, yet they post them having a great time everyday. No body is that happy, and if you are that happy you are a narcissist that makes everyone around you unhappy.

It's a false reality that many younger people (especially girls) assign way too much value to.

There's millions and millions of people on Instagram. Are you asking if SOME of them post fake happy pics? Well, duh? Are you asking if ALL of them post fake happy pics? Umm, of course not.

I’m guessing that happens all the time on IG as well as other sites.
