Pet names for opposite sex friends while in a relationship?

My SO has their friend (that they had/probably have a crush on) saved as Bug in their phone with the purple demon smiley emoji is this normal? I don't know just makes me feel weird and when they text he will call her buggy bug and things like that this is a new thing we broke up a couple of months ago (are now back together) but the nickname developed then. What should I do? And this is a girl he lied about having sex with (he originally told me they did then said he lied but who knows right). What should I do?
