Unfortunately, in order to avoid dealing with what they see as an issue out of their control, people tend to minimize those issues. If you want people to truly hear you out and address your concerns, break the issue down into smaller pieces. When it is too large, or you appear to be jumping around and making it hard for them to follow, or you keep rehashing the same thing without showing any progress, they'll just minimize, shut down or pull away. Be as clear and concise as possible. Guys, for the most part, have no idea how to deal with feelings, so focus on the actions as much as possible, especially, what happened, how you responded and what the results were.

The key is to find solutions. Telling someone they are disrespectful for minimizing you comes across as disrespectful as the other's actions. Don't treat people as stupid for not understanding you. Work a little harder at being clear from the other person's perspective.

I usually do say that and it's when people start lecturing me like they're my parent when they're literally my age or younger. Like gtfo lol. Talk to me as a peer, not an underling and we're good.

It depends on what it is. If you say you have stage 3 thyroid cancer and all you get in response is “it’s ok, it’s not serious”, then yeah, it’s disrespectful.
