My personal trainer boyfriend flirts with his clients. What do I do?

My boyfriend trains a lot of women in their 30s, often stay at home moms. He will sometimes flirt innocently with them to make them feel better about themselves, keep them as clients, or other reasons which I don't know. He says there is nothing wrong with it, and I have nothing to worry about. He has a flirty personality and probably doesn't even count it as flirting. How do I get over it? I've talked about it with him so much, and he always says I have nothng to worry about, and it doesn't mean anyhting, its just the nature of the job.

Also, just another thing, it isn't all his clients he flirts with, just some of them. So is this still considered part of his selling tactics?

Having seen this kind of behavior first hand, you need to find out how bad the flirting it. Is he getting in trouble at work for flirting? If so, I might think he has a real "issue" and you should consider what that might mean. For instance, he might have an issue with comittment. Are there signs that he is comittment phobic? Does he have pictures of you on Facebook? Does he talk about you with other people? Does he talk about marriage, but in your gut you know he might be lying? This is important to consider in this case, because often flirtatious guys are good at pulling off the game of making you feel like they are all about you, when they aren't. While selling jobs do require some charm, I don't think you are wrong to feel that there might be a reason for alarm.

It really is part of the process to keep them wanting to come back.. the more clients he has, and the more he can KEEP, the more money he makes in the end. So here's what you should do. Get a job in retail/sales with commission and you'd understand. All about the paper, baby.

Honestly IMO you have nothing to worry about...One of my jobs is based off sales and flirting/flattery gets you a lot farther with the clients. I mean it is possible, I can see why you are uncomfortable, but I think you should trust his reasoning :)

I would say so, The way I take a job like that is acting, or manipulating the situation with the client...you keep your basic personality but you change your persona to fit each client differently, some of his clients like getting flirted with, others dont, it sounds like he knows how to do his job and get clients to come back

Well he does have a point and sex does sell so you really have no other option than to trust him. I've been in those shoes before, having to deal with a girl whose profession involves being "likable" and it's a constant worry but there's absolute nothing that can be done other than her periodically assuring you you're still the one. Sucks, I know, but nothing you can do cept trust.

not surprisingly, I was his client. That said, I was probably his first client, and we met his first week on the job. Double standards?

Kinda shoots holes in his "I just do this to make money, I don't really get involved with the clients" line, is all.
