Telling them how many partners you’ve had?

My boyfriend and I were having a serious talk and talking about the past and he asked me how many partners I had. I told him. My number is double his number. Do you think that bothers him? Is there anything I should do about it? Can’t take it back now. Should I not have said that?

A relationship only works/lasts with honesty so telling the truth was the right thing to do.
The only times the number seems to make a difference for how someone feels about another is:
1. If one person did hook ups/ONS/friends with benefits and the other person never participated in that kind of behavior because they think it is immoral or it will mean sex isn't special to their partner.
2. They were a virgin and wanted another virgin.
3. If the number is too high and they were all within relationships it could mean the person doesn't learn from mistakes/lacks intelligence and will likely continuously make other kinds of mistakes throughout their lives too.

If both people have done hook ups/ONS then they have no legitimate complaint.
If one person did hook ups and the other never did they they have a valid reason to end the relationship.
So it depends on the circumstances and each partner's past and morals.

You did the right thing in telling the truth, however much it might hurt him. It is never a good idea to start a relationship with secrets or untruths. Yes, I am sure he is feeling down about it. What seems fun, for you at the time, can soon escalate into a high body count. As you infer, nothing you can do about it.

Usually guys that don't care about that type of thing, don't ask... they doubt know, don't want to know, don't need to know, because they don't care.

Guys usually value a low bodycount and even feel disgust towards a high count.

I feel like now a days people have a high body count bc hooking up has become part of our culture. He didn’t act weird after I told him but kind of just surprised, I guess. It was obviously before I met him but after I said it I regretted it
