I mean like if they are super BFF for many years but recently well last year, the lady got separeated from her husband of 11 yrrs and this year she had started to hang out more with a gay guy, who had been her friend for many many years now, (even the husband know the guy). The friend had been like her moral support during this separation process. Not even her best female friend she had chosen as her moral support in this time she had chosen the gay friend instead. This straight lady and her gay friend treat each other like if they were a couple, on social media as a nice caring nickname beause she cares for him and he is her best and close friend now , she calls him "amore".

I think anyone can fall in love with anyone. I don’t think we fully know how far our range is until it happens. And as for sex a person can have sex with another person even if they are not primarily into that gender. And we can feel things we didn’t think we were capable of feeling. Same with someone who is ‘not gay’. I think most people are potentially far more fluid than they’d like to think or ever discover.

I dont know if I am gay, but I think I might be. I wish I had a female friend like the situation you escribing, but I wanted to say that I have been inlove with women, not just one, but a few. And I have never been inlove with men.. So yeah, I think it is possible.

I'll give you an answer from my personal experience. I'm a gay man and have been out for many years. In a most unexpected time of my life, I have become very close to a new female acquaintance (so, that part is different than in your question). Actually, I was so struck by our similarities in thoughts, emotions, worldview, spirituality, etc., that I was taken aback by the intensity of my feelings... so much so that I started questioning my homosexuality.

I knew she had the same intensity in feelings, and worse yet, she was married. I thought my being gay would have saved the situation in the eyes of others. However, things didn't quite work out that way. She started questioning my feelings and intentions, while her husband, who was aware of our friendship, started becoming more and more uneasy about it.

Then, she asked me if my feelings for her included "the flesh". In hindsight, I should have said "no" and saved both of us a lot of trouble. But, I have become so confused of my own emotions that I said "yes" to her question.

It was obvious that she was in love with me, even if my emotions needed a different name. Then, one day, our relationship went to the extent of becoming physical. That's when all hell broke loose, because I got completely "frozen" in the presence of a woman next to me, about to be involved in sex. I got totally turned off, despite her physical appeal and my affection for her.

It had become totally apparent to both of us that, even with my strong affection for her, I had zero sexual attraction towards her, just like it is for any other woman I met in my life. Even though I could have sex with a man I just met without any emotional attachment, while totally enjoying the sex with him, I couldn't come close to desiring a woman sexually.

So, to make the long story short, I think a gay man may fall in love with a woman in a platonic sense. This is rare, but possible. However, if the man is truly gay, then him feeling sexual attraction towards that woman (or any woman for that matter) is not possible. Therefore, if our definition of "love" in this context has to include physical attraction (and eventually sex), then a gay man cannot fall in love with a woman. Or else, he wouldn't be gay...
