Is it just me or do people assume things way too much?

Ok I'll admit I do it too sometimes but I try to make sure I at least have information to back up my assumption, but I just had a guy assume that I had a kid because he over heard part of my conversation with one of my friends and I was talking about my nephew at the time. Is it just me or do others agree with me?

you know what happens when you ASSUME? you make an ASS out of You and ME right? wrong! you make ASSUME out of ASS, U, and ME. just had to clear up that common misconception. But yes, humans naturally assume things to fill in the blanks in information so that we can always have a handle on things. Our mind needs information, so when it doesn't get it, it has to use a template (probability, past experiences) to fill in the blanks. Some times it's correct, some times it's not. It's just best not to assume things that make you have a worse opinion of people or something.

Yep. That way people don't actually have to take time away from their text machines and their fb selfbranding fantasies in order to get to know what's really going on with people.

People are far too nosey so they hear the wrong thing and assume so much, I hear what people assumed or assume about and it is just ridiculous for example I was with my sister who is 5 years younger then me and these old ladies assumed she was my kid and they were saying things along the lines of what a whore -.- I think people assume so much because they are just bored and want there to be more drama.
