Dinner date with S. O?

Recently when I am out for dinner, I made some unique observations where a couple eats out, it is usually the boyfriend or husband that helps buys the food for both. Why is this so? Do u all think it’s guys duty to serve their girlfriends?

Me and my boyfriend usually take turns, so he’ll pay one night and I’ll pay the other, or one of us will transfer the other person half the cost. Sometimes he tells me he wants to pay though and insists, even though I’d rather help out or pay myself. I think it’s something that men have been told they’re supposed to do or they want to feel like they are providers etc? Or maybe they just like treating their S. O? Like I often want to pay for our meals out too because he deserves it, or I want to get him nice gifts for his birthday and Christmas and so on. I think it’s natural to want to do things for your partner

I prefer to strive for equality as in from the first date if I don’t know the person, I prefer my date and I to go dutch and then subsequent dates whoever feel like paying for both do so. If I am not asking her out, I personally don’t prefer to pay for the first date as I want to treat and respect her as an equal human being. Am I being a rude and stingy guy if I don’t follow the rule that people say guys must pay for first dates?

Nothing wrong with taking turns. I'm sure the guy would be grateful and it will ease his pocket from time to time

Yea but I always see boyfriend doing it not girlfriend, why is this so?

@Asker men are naturally wired to protect and provide... so it's mostly instinctual especially if he loves the lady
