I’ve only ever been in dysfunctional ones and grew up seeing dysfunctional ones so don’t know what a healthy one should be?

A healthy relationship should involve trust, honesty, respect/appreciation, empathy and good communication. I think being supportive of each other is very important, just like encouraging each other to grow and wanting the best for your partner. Also, accepting each other just the way you are.

Healthy communication is a start as I see it. If disagreements tend to escalate to the point of angering and upsetting each other, then that's not very healthy or productive; it's combative, and it makes no sense to fight with the ones we love (we lose even if we win).
