Would you hold on to hope for a successful second chance?

Long story short, my ex and I broke up because we weren't seeing eye to eye on marriage- I was certain we were working towards getting married together one day whereas he was still unsure after nearly 3 years together and countless detailed conversations. After reflecting on the breakup, we agreed and realized that we have a lot of individual hurdles (job certainty, family ties, personal desires) to overcome before we can even reconsider dating again with the intention of marriage together. This breakup was devastating for the both of us and I'm really torn during this time we have apart to grow. We had a very loving relationship, are in our mid 20s, and have mutual family planning values, which makes it even more conflicting.
