When was the last time someone you cared about, completely disappointed you with how they treated you? How did you handle it?

About a month ago.

My then-fiancé, who I was dating for 3yrs, had told me for months his immigration paperwork was on track and he was taking care of it.

His mother flew me down to help pack his apartment into a UHaul (6hrs plus flights), I drove 8/10.5h to get us to the border, and it was only after he was rejected from Canada that he told me he had lied and never actually got his paperwork sorted.

While I worked two jobs, negotiated a raise, and got a dream job, he quit his and played mobile gatcha games while doing literally nothing else.

He said he loved me, but clearly not enough to get off his ass and actually put in work.

I left the ring with him, took two weeks to think it through, and broke up with him.

He's not mature enough to manage his own life? He's not mature enough to share mine.

He also so thoroughly turned me off white American men that I'm never dating one again. White American lesbians and bis? Maybe. Mayyyyyybe, if they have enough life experience and good life skills. But upper class white boys? Fuck no - they're totally incapable. 2/2 failures.

Time to date women, bisexual men, and explore the rainbow a bit more. No partners unless they're fully functioning adults, thriving and independent.

Seriously debating taking two years single to just mingle with friends with benefits and explore my sexuality more. I came out as bisexual right before I met my exfiancé, and haven't had a chance to really experiment yet. So looking forward to that.

Probably need to experiment with my gender identity, too. While I'm 90% sure I'm a cis woman, I don't know. I'd like to really explore and tease that out.

I can't expect a fully self-realized partner if I'm unwilling to do that work for myself, too.

Completely hardcore disappointed? About 5 years ago, my (to that time) closest friend of 13 years showed her true face.

I had the most awful time of my life, I was totally emotional dead inside. She came over to "be there for me" but in the end she just wanted me to serve her.
I begged her that I don't have the energy to even stand up and she can go to the kitchen herself or I can order food and pay but I can't cook for her ass. But no.
Just thinking about how I desperately had to argue with her, while being like in emotional and also physical pain... smh.
That's the moment i saw what everyone had already told me and I kicked her out the next day. Stopped contact.

But she came back around 3 years later, I made the mistake to give in, but kept her at distance and nearly never talked to her and finally last month I got rid of her for good, deleted and blocked her on everything. I hope I will never hear from her again.

That's never easy to deal with. I usually try to put my self in their frame of mind based on what I know about them and sometimes it makes me more upset but every now and then It makes me understand what kind of pressure they are under or how they grew up and I'm not as upset.

fortunately, I have never had to feel this way before... not ~completely~ disappointed, I had some issues with loved ones yes, but, they did not go to this extreme, whatever happened and how it happened it was understandable

Right now and I'm still trying to handle it. I love my girlfriend but she's very short tempered and sometimes it makes its way to me. She's got past issues so I'm sure she's not doing it on purpose but it's still quite off-putting and exhausting.

I learned at the tender age of 4 that I can’t count on anyone for anything when my mom abandoned me I have extremely low expectations for everyone if I don’t have something I’ll get it myself or manage without like I always have
