How would you deal with blackmail?

My reaction to blackmail is to just don't give a damn whatever the result. It happened to me a few times, first time being at school, last time a few years ago because of some porn selfies. I know this can be a difficult decision in some situations, but if ever you give in once, nothing will prevent you from being victim again. Whatever the result of sending the blackmailer to the devil, you're not responsible. Keep that always in mind. Actually I found rather amusing when a blackmailer threatened me to send some of my porn selfies to my friends and family. I told him (or her ?) to just proceed, which never happened sadly. I was eager to know the reactions... ;0)

I would laugh at them, tell them to do whatever they have to do and walk away laughing my ass off. Then I would stop, turn around and say to them, "By the way, do your worst... but just remember... for the rest of your life you will be wise to look over your shoulder... one day, when I have nothing else to lose, I'm going to be standing right behind you."

Then I would smile with the most stone cold face I could ever muster up... and walk away.

Whatever they have to ruin you, you can recover from over time. What you cannot recover from is some idiot holding this information over you for the rest of your life. No matter what, be strong.

I say never let it bother you. If it does then they have the power to blackmail you. If you don’t let it bother you then they can’t hold it over you. If they send it to people you know, who cares. Who is rude enough to say something to you? Everyone takes selfies and nude selfies so from a moral aspect it’s hypocritical to believe coworkers haven’t done the same. Beside you could just claim it’s not you. They can’t prove it is you. Just tell them it’s photoshopped. Or your face pasted in the video.
Remember blackmailers only have the power to blackmail if you let it bother you. 😊

The funny part of being openly polyamorous is that I have nothing to hide, so whatever they think is blackmail is at best a nuisance/harassment. I'd probably tell em to roll up their photos and shove em up their ass for all I care.

I want to say, generally, one might be better served being truthful and forthcoming to appropriate authorities or people, rather than following through with whatever demand the the person blackmailing wants. For me personally, I don’t have anything in my past where if someone is blackmailing with it, would scare me so much that I’d have to give into their demands rather than have my past or truth come out.

Pray for the person doing the blackmailing. If whatever situation they're in is SO bad that they would have to use some power play or leverage and "expose" whatever dirt they have on me, their shame is for them and them alone and they can carry that burden. I won't succumb to it. Even in a worst case scenario and there's some exposure.. whats going to happen? Embarrassment? Temporary. Shame? Temporary. Next.

Go public with everything including the blackmail, involve the police. You can look at it in a "the truth will set you free" light if you want, or take a more cynical route.

That is just what I would do. Each one of us know our circumstances and one can feel the risk is too great.

One is to not have anything they can use to blackmail you with. Two... I can get myself to zone in and focus completely on obtain a certain set of skills in a short amount of time if I do choose. That little superpower can be used to do good, to be a better person... but I can also use that to do harm. Someone tried that on me once or twice. I said "thanks for putting it in writing, about your intentions." I then showed them the statutes about how it's a federal crime, whether it's extortion or blackmail, and the sentence it carries. I said if it's worth it to you, come and get it. You'll need far more than that to cover your lawyer bills while you try and stay out of prison.
