What you do if your partner wants to live rent free?

So I bought a house and my boyfriend asked could he stay with me so I told him to give me $500 a month and help with groceries. He felt it was too much and he has money and he still lives with dad without paying anything, he gave his dad $10k and that was it. I told him if we were married it'd be our money together.

Make them cook and clean, and give them a list of chores to do and other expectations. Women living free is nothing new or even, particularly out of the ordinary.
I'd probably coach them to find part-time work they like though unless there were kids to take care of. Being entirely idle is not good for the mind.

I don't understand the issue here, does he not add anything financially so you want him to pay the Bills? Is he supposed to do housework but hasn't? Is he just being cheap? I'm confused here.

Being cheap about staying at my house, he doesn't pay anything at his dad's but doesn't want to help live where I stay

Should he pay? Because if that's the main thing you want, then you should talk to him. For some couple, not paying the bills is ok because the person does other things but if him "Being cheap" is a problem, it should be discussed. sorry for responding late lol
