What does a relationship mean to you and can you spend your life without a relationship?

Hmm, this is a complex question with no definite answer. Everyone is different. I don't think anyone could go without ANY form of relationship. A relationship could be purely platonic or romantic or sexual. Which one are we talking about here?

Personally, I could go without a sexual relationship, and throughout history, many have done so. A person could prefer to stay single for the rest of their life merely because they are not interested in romance or possibly, have other priorities in life. I don't think anyone can stay "alone" forever, without forming any sort of meaningful relationship with anyone.

A person may crave for a romantic relationship internally, but insecurities or fear or commitment may hold them back.

To me, a relationship is a meaningful bond with someone I deeply care about. It does not necessarily have to be romantic. I have many friends I love deeply and it's purely platonic. I have only a small group of friends and that's more than enough for me. They are amazing and I'm so grateful to have them around me.

As for the romantic part... I'm a hopeless romantic. I definitely see myself falling in love, getting married, having kids etc. 10-12 years from now. I certainly do not want to remain single for the rest of my life. I want someone to share my life with intimately. Someone I can lean on. Someone I can fall in love with. Someone who would reciprocate my love.

For different people, the term "relationships" and "love" can mean different things. You can love someone and not be in love with them.

It means being in love with your best friend.. Doing everything together, having more fun than arguing. Working together to accomplish goals. It means honoring the Lord our God in our marriage and through our children. I can see myself spending the rest of my life without a relationship but that can always change. I am happy being single

Based upon this fact, one in relations to you should identify with you, respectfully agree and disagree, and define as well as set parameters. Romantic relationships are great, at least when you're in a good one. Sure, we can live without them since we have friends and family, but they improve our quality of life. It means you have companionship and someone in your corner in addition to the pleasure of making love.

Be honest, after several failed relationships with women over the last 4 decades, I'd be quite happy now to live the rest of my life on my own.
