Have you ever felt your life was wasted?

I asked my boyfriend what he thought about us marring, he is not against it but doesn't feel the time is right. And I understand we have only been together for 3 months. But I can't help think I have wasted my life. I can't even adopt at this age, I'm 55 and he is 60 lets say we do marry in a year or two, that wouldn't be fair to any child. I can't get past that my life choices have ruined my chances to a happy life. Don't get me wrong I have had a fun life but not what i dreamed of as a child, like everything I saw on tv of happy marriages with a man to love you. I don't know why I'm writing this but I feel I needed to.

I really gave this honest question some thought, and I can say no, I have never felt like my life was wasted. And I say this even though my life has had its fair share of hardships and detours. I try to see it this way - and maybe this will help - All of our lives take winding, sometimes unexpected paths. And the path of each of our lives has meaning, even if we don’t always see it. The notion of the ‘ideal’ ‘American dream’ is mostly a fallacy, and realizing that can help one to see how meaningful their own unique life path and experiences are. Just because our station in life doesn’t match up or align with false notions of what makes a life meaningful, doesn’t mean that it isn’t! So, no, my life has never felt wasted, and neither should yours!

Actually, no. I've never felt like my life was wasted, but I have occasionally felt like other people's timidity made my life less awesome than it could have been. I believe in living in a way that is way less ruled by fear than most people seem to.
