I don't think you can. Your time with him was one of your life experiences, possible a peak time in your life.

What you have to do is know that a lifetime together was not mean to be. You can't be with him, but you can cherish the things about your time together that were amazing.

I had girlfriends from the time I was 16, but there was only one who I fell deeply in love with and she loved me. I was 37 by then and she was 30-31. We both had our own places but lived together for over a year.

We separated for reasons that are complicated but had nothing to do with cheating or anything mean. I was devastated for a year. I would sometimes double over and bawl. The pain in hy heart and gut almost made me nauseous at times. It is the worst pain I have ever experienced.

I finally pulled myself together and, 3 years later, met my future wife. We've been married now for over 25 years and have built a great life together. We trust each other and love each other completely.

That girlfriend connected with me on Facebook 20 years after the last time we saw each other. We even spoke on the phone a few times. I was overjoyed to be in touch, to have her in my life, and to know that she was happy. But 5 years later, I read that she had died from a sudden medical problem at age 55.

There is a hole in my heart that will never heal. i still love her deeply and will never forget her. I cherish the memories. But my love for doesn't detract from how much I love my wife.

You don’t, and you shouldn’t. Your past experiences become a part of you. They inform decisions for your present and future. Otherwise it’s all a complete waste.

There isn't a 100% guaranteed way to completely forget someone you loved. Our heart works in funny ways and when we accept the fact that we've fallen in love with someone, we also accept that they've made an impact on us and our lives. They've become a part of our life and them no longer being a part of it is very painful and impossible to forget.

What I usually do every time I end up thinking of them, or if I hear their name, or I start remembering their face, is I remind myself what went wrong and why we can't be together. Basically telling myself and reminding myself of the little things that drove us apart and why it never would have worked out.

Best case scenario, you still think of them often and you let bygones be bygones. You cherish the sweet times you had and that it's now all over, and for the best.

I can tell you what guys do. They completely immerse themselves in the work and do anything possible to keep themselves distracted. After sometime, it is bound to find some amazing girl out there.

Lag jate hai fir, unke piche. Par iis baar na, boys know what to look for and what not to look for. What to wary of and what to appreciate.

You may be find it hard to believe, but sometimes what you find nerdy and small, can be a big and awesome thing for us. It happens many a times to be honest.

It's hard for a guy to get over a woman he really loved. So you have to accept that it's over and forgive yourself. And be kind to yourself it is human life. Nobody l Iikes rejection from anything. When you want your dream and don't get it hurts, but it's human life and it happens to all of us and you're not alone.

I would say get involved with other things besides love. Pick up a new hobby start reading the new book or series of books. Take up photography go on a long trip with your girlfriends. Maybe just maybe start a new relationship with somebody else. Just like friends only. I feel your pain. Lied to have been dumped.

About 4 years later I met this beautiful young woman and we have been together for 44 years this month. She helped heal my wounded heart.

It’s a life lesson. You carry them to varying degrees, always. Trick is to not compare new people to them. That isn’t fair. Not to the new person or yourself.

By realizing that you are either in one of these situations:

    - You broke up with him for a good reason.

    - He doesn't want you back. You are living a fantasy.

Life goes on and in time you will forget. The easiest way to forget fast, is to find another man and to fall in love again.

You don't "forget" people you loved, you just keep going and you deal with it.
