What’s the reason you can an emotional affait?

I’m wondering if there is a significant difference in the reason men and woman have emotional affairs?

People tend to prioritize certain things in a relationship. It could be peace and quiet or communication or acknowledgement or anything else. When that priority isn't met, a void exists in the relationship. It's not that we actively seek what is missing; we just tend to notice it all around us. If communication is missing, we often are very aware of when we see others communicating. Eventually, someone will start communicating with us, and we'll feel drawn in. It feels so good to fill the void. Though we may be drawn to the comfort of the void being filled, guys don't like change. Girls are more likely to seek a replacement, while guys are more likely to want to stay where they're at and just fill the void. Girls assume they can get a better overall package, whereas guys are more likely to understand the overwhelming cost of divorce and so choose to settle.

Wouslnt that be a series of one night stands etc, not a deep emotional affair which usually consists of no physical contact?
