I don't think it's the main reason. How long does sex last? How long do you have to communicate with your partner when you aren't having sex? So the most amount of time spent with your partner is just during regular communication. If something is off and leads to a breakup then it's more than likely not sex related and just two people that either get bored with each other or start getting on each other's nerves or just want something new in their life.
