Would you date someone who works as a cook?

Last year I was dating one of my managers. She said she wanted to have a serious relationship with me, but after 4 months of dating she told me she didn’t want to be with me anymore because our boss would not like us dating. She said that was a manager and I was just a cook. She also said that she didn’t want to come home to cook for me and that she didn’t have enough money to support me. But I never asked her for money, I never thought about moving with her. At the contrary, I wanted her to come to my house. I wanted to be there for her and try to give her everything I could. I don’t make a lot of money but I always try to give her nice things/gifts when we were dating.
Three months ago I dated a guy, and he also told me that he didn’t want to keep dating me because I didn’t make enough money and he wanted a girl who had a career and make lots of money. When we were dating i paid for my food most of the time. I also never asked him for money. I think people assume that at some pint I’ll ask them for money because I’m a cook, but I would never do that. I don’t even feel comfortable receiving money from my dad.

I have my bachelors degree but I cannot get a better job because I’m undocumented. It sucks that people think I’m not worth it because I’m a minimum wage worker 😢
