You don't wanna lie, you wanna misslead. If you lie and you get caught, you're fucked, if you misslead, you can say that it was miscommunication and even gas light people. So yeah only stupid people lie, you should misslead.

I really don't know how you can learn this without being lied to and misled numerous times. Once those things happened to you, you can reflect on your experience and understand what things made you assume certain things which made you to act in a certain way. And you can use this understanding and your empathy to project your human nature and how that supposed human nature would act in that situation and only then you can understand how you can manipulate that situation.
