How would you know someone is cheating on you?

They start leaving you hours at s time and doesn't call like he used to. Comes home with crazy excuses about where he's been. Last night he was gone over three hours
and no call. He said s friend of his is dying and wanted him to stay with him for a while. When I wanted to call his friend he said his phone is broken.

Does this sound like cheating?

never been there but... I would probably be able to tell by their guilt, the change in their behavior as well as patterns

even if very subtle, I always notice change or adjustments in the people I am with and our relationships, so I can tell the difference when something is off, if they started to cheat at some point then I would definitely "know" and would just "feel" something is going on

and then I would inquire about what's going on... and maybe then is when I would be sure, because I would know to "perfection" about how they tell a lie, or misleading claim... and how they tell the truth and hones statements... if and when I am love with you, I do not miss much

You cannot know for sure unless he/she confesses or you catch him/her red-handed. But there are sings to notice if there's something going on.

We had been together for two years when my then-girlfriend started acting strangely. She used to be a disciplined right-on-time girl then suddenly she became forgetful and wishy-washy. She had extreme mood swings. She slightly changed her appearance. Even one of my friends noticed her being suspicious. All these hints added up pointed to one possible explanation.

I was full of doubts so I needed to know. So I set her a trap and called my bluff: told her I know about everything without actually knowing anything.

She was shocked. Had to push her for a bit more but eventually she cracked and confessed.

Their eyes, change in breathing, inconsistencies in their story, any little change in behavior can indicate unease or a lie, movements, sweat, mannerisms. The better you know the person, the easier it is to find them out.

Decrease in attention. Requests for space. It's always cheating. I don't care what all these guys say. If it isn't cheating It's scoping out and sniffing who they want to either ditch you for or get with for a short bit on the side.

You may not know for sure, but if your sexual activity with that someone is lower than normal, you can probably suspect cheating as a possibility.
