Can catching a partner cheating be strong enough to cause you to faint?

I've heard of reactions of sadness, anger and even few cases of passion of crime but never someone that literally fainted.

In my workplace, one my friends shared us the brief story of her neighbor. He's been a divorced man for 6 years and his two kids are now adults, one's 23 and another is 19. When he walked into his then wife cheating with his best friend (he got early from work), he literally fainted and had to be taken by ambulance. He was unconscious for several moment.

The impact was too much that he had no reaction. He lost conscious for a long moment. Off course he then divorced the cheater and blocked the friend. Can getting cheated on really cause someone to faint like that?
