Trending & News No one is owed trust... we earn trust. Deep love won't exist without trust, but infatuation doesn't require trust. We can live peacefully while having no trust in others, but that only works for loners or those who don't mind being lonely.
As far as Einstein's quote, I'd alter it to say respect and be considerate of all, keep your eyes open and never blindly trust anyone and do no wrong to anyone.
I don't believe in fatalism, so your second option is just wishful thinking.
Your third option makes sense. If we expect everyone to earn our trust, while not giving them opportunities to do so, we're setting everyone up for frustration and disappointment. Neither assume people can't be trusted nor blindly trust. Be observant at all times.
For depth to exist in a relationship, both people must always feel safe. Without safety, we won't allow vulnerability. Without vulnerability, we only allow superficiality. Safety builds trust, for we realize our vulnerability will never be used against us. If you want someone to feel safe, never accuse, blame, criticize, demand or insist on what should or shouldn't be.
Because if we don’t trust someone we worry they will hurt us
Yea that’s not trusting as you are not surprised they hurt you. It’s almost like you expected them to or there is a pattern of abuse
