Men. Women tend to try to hide it for a long time, that is why there are so many kids being taken care of for years without the real father because they deceive the man they are with for support.

Holy shit... my first baby mama... She kept her pregnancy secret from me for 16 years, lied to her boyfriend and convinced him it was his. Then the truth finally came out and she started searching for me for child support reasons. I was already married with my own young kids at that point so I just ignored her searches. The kid is grown at this point, but I'm not going to risk having my wife have to backpay $1,000/month for my kid just to get into contact. ... And fuck having to go back to work just for that.

So maybe I'm a dick... but if I would have known like 16 years prior, I probably wouldn't have moved on and started my own family. Her bullshit begat more bullshit. I dodged a bullet and wouldn't have been allowed to get to know my kid anyways.

@D_Bone_Steak Yeah, statistics show that out of the men that do get paternity tests done on their kids, around 1/3 of them turn out to not be theirs.
That isn't 1/3 of all kids though, but it is 1/3 of those that get the test. So there are statistically (factually proven with evidence, not an opinion) a lot of deceptive women that cheat and hide it.

Well, I've only known a few people who have cheated on their significant others in my life. One was a guy who was just like "yeah that wasn't good, I guess." Kind of morally indifferent to it, which is a bit sociopathic in itself, but admitted it was bad.

I've known several women who have done it, but they have usually justified themselves by saying their boyfriends weren't emotionally available, or were too busy, or that they got bored with their boyfriends, etc.

So I guess I'd say anecdotally men, but my anecdotes don't count for much.

As for ownership I think it’s 50/50
But I have seen men take responsibility more often regardless of who cheated
Men cheat and say I was weak women say you hurt me.
Women cheat say I was lonely and men will say I wasn’t there for you.
This is kinda what I saw every time someone got caught cheating very generalized
I imagine a large study will find different results

From what I have seen in my personal life (not saying this as a blanket statement) but the women will own up to a portion of them cheating but never give the full extent of it and will try to mitigate what they did. Men when they do own up its as if they care less but will be more honest about what went down
