People don't appreciate how firm and insistent I am about following boundaries. I will operate based on what you tell me. If you tell me that you want me to do "X," I'll do "X." All you have to do is tell me. You can tell me damn near anything and I'll basically respect what you tell me.

  It makes life so much easier! Also, people don't realize that the fact you feel a certain way about something is all the reason you need to tell me not to do it. The feeling is the sufficient reason. For example:
  You: "[Filmguy], I don't want you to talk to that girl any more."
  Me: "Oh okay, why not?"
  You: "Because I don't have a good feeling about it. I don't like how she looks at you."
  Me: "Okay."
  
  And that's the conversation. You set a boundary that you don't want me talking to that other girl because you don't like how she makes you feel. And I, great boyfriend that I am, respect your boundary because I respect that something made you feel bad, even if I don't agree with your assessment of the situation.

That I’m a good person with a good heart. I just have a lot of problems. I have a lot to offer. Some see that. But it’s hard. It’s hard to just me me anymore
