Why did you cheat on your partner (if you did)?

I didn't vote because the reason I cheated on my most recent girlfriend wasn't listed. I cheated on her initially because there was another girl I was interested in, who was hot (not necessarily hotter than my girlfriend, they were both very attractive), and was all for a casual relationship (until she wasn't, and she eventually told my girlfriend everything).

The other side of the coin was that I had a far higher sex drive than my girlfriend- we could do it a few times a week, but with the other girl we could do it several times a night (the screwed up thing is that they lived in the same apartment complex, and I could see my girlfriends apartment from my side-chicks window).

Afterward I had sex with several other women largely because I wanted some variety- and at some point I needed an ego boost.

While the last 6 months of our relationship were largely sexless, and I was pursuing other women, I could have directed my energies toward her and made things work. Instead I took the easy way out, got caught, and faced the consequences.

I'd say revenge, but I'm not sure it exactly counts as cheating because I broke up with her the same day.

I had simply had enough of her - she lied, stole, dared to hit me during arguments, and excused all of that on her rough childhood. I excused her for a while, but eventually I got sick of it because having been abused it's not an excuse to abuse others and make their life hell like she did with me.

The last straw was when I found out she was cheating on me and once I confronted her she dared me to try and go find another girl who'd want me, because she only took me for pity, and I'd come crawling back to her, etc. So I thought "screw it", called a girl who kind of liked me and invited her out. She said yes and things moved from there.

I would say it was because his friend was more attractive but that would only be part of it. I did have a period where I closer to his friend than to him which I think affected things.

He would get mad at me, and punish me by saying no sex, as I had the higher sex drive. Using it to control me, so I cheated and broke up the next day.

I cheated one time when I was younger and it was a life lesson to never cheat on someone again , I asked myself over and over as to why I did it to realize I was a selfish person , meaning I wasn’t getting my way , even though at the time I was blaming her for my actions because of the way she treated me , it still didn’t give me the right to cheat on her , She actually didn’t know that I did it and the crazy thing was I probably could of got away wiith it but I realized I’d be living a lie so I confessed to her immediately because I knew It was wrong , She still wanted to be with me which was a complete shock to me after she mother fucked me for like an hour , but I thought about it and I knew I couldn’t do it, I felt like she would hold that over my head until she decided to get revenge on me or use it as a control thing , Why cheating is so wrong in all aspects , If you can cheat on someone be honest about it , don’t string them along acting like you still love them because you really don’t, you only love yourself and you are lying to yourself , How can you honestly look your so called partner in the eyes and tell them you love them knowing in the back of your mind you are a piece of shit? People That can do that are the biggest scum on this Earth , if you truly loved them like you say you do , then let them go and find true love , not strong them along for Your selfishness , I feel bad for people that take cheaters back into their lives, It’s like that person is desperate and feels like no one else would want them , trust me you are better off being single then staying with a cheater , Have dignity in yourself and value your self worth , realize
You deserve someone that wants to stand by you no matter what not someone that likes the convenience of you , So many people cheat on each other in todays world that makes you wonder if true love really exist , I been cheated on by girls that I gave my heart to to
Realize people find excuses to cheat on their loving partners , so what’s really the point of getting into a relationship with someone if they can’t give back the same that you give to them? We are all imperfect people but value yourself and realize you deserve someone that is going to stand by you no matter what , someone that is going to remove selfishness for you the same way you do for them , Prioritize each other over everyone , when you find that person keep them at all cost because in todays world that’s so hard to find

Just wanted to point out that poly and bisexual aren't excuses to cheat.
Bisexual simply means you're capable of being attracted to both genders, not that you need both a man and woman always. You're capable of being exclusive to one person.
There are multiple partners in a poly relationship but it's consenting. If there's four people for example, all four consent to being with each other. If it happens without consent then that's not poly anymore, it's cheating. Same goes for open relationships.

If someone uses these as an excuse to cheat, they're the scum of the earth.

Long term girlfriend in HS I went to a local university to be with her. She went away to school. Cheated. We broke up I moved on but anytime she came home to visit her parents she’d show up acting like nothing changed. I asked whats up with us she declared we were together again 🤷‍♂️

Went out with friends & his girlfriend brought her sister. Later that night the sister & I had sex & it actually helped clear my mind. She knew about my on/off relationship and I stated its nothing. Finally realizing it wasn’t worthwhile.

So cheating essentially woke me up. I cut the ex off entirely which drove her slightly bonkers but in the end it was positive.
