Is it a wrong or I should just over look it?

So basically for a while now anytime I call my boyfriend he tends to use his earbuds while on call with me. I have no issue with him using earbuds, but the issue here is I can't hear him whenever he uses it. I've complained to him several times about not being able to hear him when he's using the earbuds while on call with me but up until now he still uses it and doesn't listen to me. What do I do? Does this say a lot about the future or it's just an attitude i should ignore?
