How did it go the first time you met your boyfriend/husband parents?

I met his father before we were dating. It was back in high school and my boyfriend (then friend) was having a card game night at his house (his parents' house) and his dad came and said hello to us all.

With his mother, it was a little awkward since I was caught slightly off guard. I had been coming over to their house for a while without actually seeing her, since it was during the beginning of 2020, and she was always attending online meetings and working. However, this one time when I came over and his mother answered the door.

They pretty much all meet my fam and I meet theirs before they’re my boyfriend. I like to introduce them before things are official because its less awkward for us both. Less pressure for to feel the need to impress the fam too. My fam is welcoming but they do ask a lot of questions

Really well, turned out I already knew his mum from years ago, she was one of my favourite caregivers at a respite home that I attended for a year when I was 14. His dad isn’t in his life so I haven’t met him. But I have a great relationship with his mum these days.

It went well.
His parents aren’t around anymore so I met his grandparents.
They were rather nice folks. Kept trying to give me more food. Just casual conversations about how we met, what I do for work, my family.
