What causes people from certain countries to be more/less likely to cheat?

Culture, opportunity, and economics. A culture that places high value on loyalty, or, more commonly, punishes infidelity, whether criminally or socially, is naturally going to see less cheating. With Hollywood normalizing both disloyalty and the "if it's not always easy, throw it away and find another" relationship standard, it's hard to say they're not encouraging cheating; I'm not surprised (saddened, but not surprised) to see it's that high here.

The second reason is opportunity- places where the sexes mix and frequently interact in multiple ways are obviously going to lead to more cheating, simply because it's easier to set it up. You'll find more of it in Miami than, say, Riyadh.

The economics issue is, appropriately enough, a cost one: if you're relying on your partner for survival as much as enjoyment, you're going to be a LOT more motivated to be loyal to them.

i would say consequences of cheating is a factor. like for example in a society where you will not find another mate, cause you'll be shunned after you cheated, people are unlikely to cheat. vs a society where you can just move on and cheat on the next person, facing no consequences... people are more likely to cheat. but that's just one variabele. there's a bunch of different ones but i think this is probably the biggest one in global comparison.

Wouldn't really class a % out of 1,000 respondents for each country as a good measure. Maybe ya need to question more were these stats come from because to me that don't say anything. Lying can also be a thing.
To get a reliable result of something in this nature would be very hard.

Divorce rates easy because marriages and divorces are documented by the government. But actual unfaithfulness is not.

Did you realize that the countries with less chances of cheating are way smaller that those who are more likely to cheat? The answer is very simple in larger countries you have more options and in smaller countries since you have less options you also have more chances of getting caught.

Opportunity and the normalisation of cheating. Hollywood constantly makes movies where the heroine of the movie cheats on her boyfriend or husband and there's always justification in it
