What would you do if your significant other died today, without warning?

I would have to remain calm, and internalize the grief, their attempt to explain to our children that their dad is dead, and gone and won't be coming back. I would have to remain calm and collected while the details of what happened were investigated and conclusions were made. I would have to remain calm, as all of the necessary arrangements were made and handled, probably by me. And at some point, I would have to force myself to have a moment, alone, to scream, and let the tears flow and start the grieving process.

Its probably better to die without warning otherwise you’d worry all the time. I have this daydream scenario a lot that i’ll be super happy and pregnant or a parent and that the guy just one day dies. I hate that. Its sad and scary. But i keep a brave face for the kid. If there was no kid, I’d breakdown for about a month because its so hard to find someone who suits yourself and once you do, you really dont wanna lose em

Back in August, I came home ready to give my girl a big hug and ask what she wanted for her birthday, but instead I walked in and found her dead on the dining room floor with a massive hole in her head from the gun I taught her how to use.

I contemplated killing myself too, but I could only think about my family and what that would do to them.
I did the only other thing a person can do. I kept going and decided I'm gonna try to live my life the best I can without her. The only other option is suicide

I've thought about that, and it be awful. Also thought about both of us dying... you have to think about these things as you get older and address the questions that arise... whom cares for the kids, finances, knows what to do, the pets, etc..

I don't know, but it be hard times in many ways. Find out what happened, be with her, call relatives, sulk, take a walk.

Well! We are pretty much in love like crazy after 14 years together, so i would be shocked, traumatized and would cry like a baby for a month, hate life even more. Isolate my self from everyone, barley eat, be alcoholic, probably start smoking again and be miserable and bitter for about a year, or 5 years. Yea! Even worse, like 100 times worse

You'd cry for a lot longer than a month.
Then you'd finally start to accept it and feel a little better, then out of nowhere it will hit you like a ton of bricks and you'll start crying again.
It's a roller coaster of intense emotions, a big one being confusion.
But you would get through it. I am, and people have been dealing with tragic loss since the dawn of time

@WanderingLoveWizard yes, and i am not gonna try to hide it. I will keep on living, i have seen war and saw rivers of blood, i will be alright, but at the same time i won't forget. I need some pain to live forward, it's a habit of mine.

It would throw me through a loop, I rely on her for a bunch of emotional support. And she I, also we have her mom living with us and that would make that hard. I know what her wishes are, and we'd be okay financially (I'm the primary bread winner) but I would have problems focusing for a while.
