Is it rare for people to fall in love outside of their socioeconomic background?

Just to fall in love with who someone is; regardless of background? If not, how common would you say it is these days?

rare yes will it last probably not. i say that from experience. i used to know a lot of women who worked shitty dead end restaurant jobs and shitty retail jobs dead end crap and i even knew women who were unemployed and made no money for themselves but bitched when i was laid off for a few months and yet when i pointed out how they never worked a day in their lives or had dead end jobs they got mad one of my ex's was forced to get a job by her parents after i pointed that out and she hated me ever since and broke up with me because her parents forced her to get a job after me pointing out how she never worked a day in her life and had no business criticizing me who just got laid off

Lots of people date people outside of their socioeconomic background, however, very few marry outside of their SES.

I was just reflecting this morning on this friend of mine who saw me as ‘a young woman without family connections or fortune;’ and her son had as she saw it, both and was handsome and neither could understand how I couldn’t want him. My friend was offended that I would choose to stay in a state of almost poverty (in comparison); rather than marry up. It reminds me of the 1995 movie, Pride and Prejudice. ‘So this is all of a reply that we can expect?’ They really didn’t get it. How I couldn’t care about connections or wealth. I took offence to that but now I see our values and life expectations were just different.

Not for me, I don’t have money or class but I’m attracted to people that have lots of money and are above my “Station” because I am hoping that I will be accepted by the upper class someday

What you are really asking is how common is it to love someone for who they are, not the life they have. I hate to break it to you, but most people are shallow. Most more love the idea they have in their own head of who their partner is, than they love who their partner actually is.
