Kissing with eyes open, is that normal?

So growing up I was always told the if someone kisses with their eyes open it means they arnt into you or that its rude... I have never been with someone who kisses with their eyes open until now. I naturally close mine because I am in the moment but he kisses with his eyes open... is that normal?
