Have you asked him what the problem is? I think that is the best idea is to actually go to the source rather than asking random strangers on the internet that don't know him at all.
How are we to read someone's mind? You seem to lack a very important thing in your relationship. Communication. That is one of my top three things that are important in keeping a relationship together. Ask him, not us. All we can do is guess.
What is a two year prison issue? Does that mean he was in prison for two years? If so, best advice is to just cut ties. I would not date a criminal, but that is just me. So, this guy is also a professional athlete and did prison time?
I bet I can google and figure out who this is if he is a pro golfer that was in prison. Though, it does beg the question of why if he is a pro golfer, he would start a tattoo business. Something just seems off about this whole thing.

I think it’s because he’s getting action from other women behind your back and/or isn’t that interested in you anymore. I have no idea what he had to deal with in prison for 2 years. I believe that 2 years is more than an issue, Two years is felony time.
