Would you be interested in a fake friendship with someone you knew in real life?

like if the person was only willing to offer a friendship at the place where you knew them like a restaurant or there place of employment. they talked to you there and such and seemed to get along with them but they didn't want to see you outside of that place. so the friendship wasn't really all that real.

like what would be the point of having such a friendship? unless you were like infatuated with them or something and it was all you get get with them so better than nothing. i'm not sure why anyone would want to be in such a situation , its not fair for the other person who actually wants to be friends with the faker.

i'm assuming the faker usually does this for financial reasons , they don't want to offend customers or get there bosses upset that people are't coming back. or just as a way to deal with someone who wants too much so they offer a little something but not really offering much at all

Yes, I think there are all sorts of friendships and there is just being friendly.

• School friends
• Work friends
• Church friends
• (name your activity/hobby) friends
• Dog walking friends
• Internet friends

Then there are the few and far between close friends.

true its normal to have friendships which are limited to the place or activity at which you know that person.

although the situation i'm dealing with is weird cause we live in the same area , relatively small city so seemed odd to me the person was not willing to offer up a bit more as typically people would become more familiar with other people within this area if they knew them well

i just don't want some sort of fake friendship which is limited to the specific place i know them at and doesn't seem to exist anywhere else

I can understand it being awkward of the other person wants a limited friendship. Maybe they don't feel like they have enough free time to give to a friendship outside of you're shared activity?

yes awkward or weird to live in the same area as this person but to feel that you don't know them outside of the place you know them.

most people don't have a lot of free time so not sure i buy that one as a genuine reason why they did this to me

its kind of like a WTF moment when you sort of question things , like i'm i really not worthy of a real friendship with this person

we knew each other better than that and had talked many times at that location , it seemed like she was trying to limit what i knew about her despite the fact i already knew a lot by then , small town i obviously knew who she was by then

so if its obvious few people would want this , why would someone offer this to someone they know in real life? its almost like insulting on some level to expect someone to accept this over a real friendship
