There is basically only one single major cause and that is sex/pornography.

When sex/pornography, fornication and copulation takes precedence over anything else in a relationship and you don't get what you want, then extramarital affairs become a sad reality because you want to get something elsewhere that you cannot get at home.

This corrupt way of behaving has always existed but it has gone out of control since the porn industry makes you believe that it is something normal and that governments don't act to prohibit this industry from harming people.

Remove sex/fornication/copulation from a relationship and you remove 99% of extramarital affairs. As simple as that.
